According to sources within the civic body, the Ministry highlighted the urgent need for action, emphasising the alarming lack of proper waste disposal systems, particularly within commercial hotels in Islamabad.

Under the shared details, this move comes in response to concerns raised by the Health Services Ministry – Malaria Control Directorate regarding the potential health risks associated with improper waste disposal, particularly in the context of diseases such as dengue and malaria.

In a letter dated February 7, the Ministry underscored the proliferation of illegal junkyards in various areas of the city, including Iqbal Town, Soan Garden, G-7/1, G-7/2, G-7/3, and H-10. These junkyards, often containing items such as used mineral water bottles and plastic drums that collect water, create ideal breeding grounds for dengue-vector mosquitoes, posing significant health risks to residents.
